Lydia Sims Jones, born on May 2, 1948, in Buffalo, New York, was a beacon of light and warmth to all who knew her. With a heart full of love and a spirit filled with grace, Lydia lived a life of deep faith, service, and devotion to her loved ones. In her 78 years, she touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of compassion, faithfulness, and resilience that will never be forgotten. As it says in Proverbs 31:28, "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her."

Lydia was a woman of many talents and accomplishments. Her career in banking was marked by integrity and commitment to her clients. She served as an active board member at Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union, always striving to empower and uplift those in her community. However, Lydia's most treasured moments with close friends and family or enjoying the precious company of her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. A dedicated wife and mother, Lydia's home was filled with love and laughter, a place where all felt welcome.

Lydia's profound faith was the cornerstone of her life. As an Evangelist, Missionary, and Lay person at the First AME Church in Lockport, NY, Lydia contributed significantly to her church community. She blessed many with her beautiful voice, often leading worship or singing solos. Her unwavering belief and dedication to her faith was an inspiration to many and a testament of her deep love for God. As Psalm 100:2 says, "Serve the LORD with gladness; come before his presence with singing", Lydia faithfully embodied this throughout her life.

Lydia is survived by her husband Charles Jones, their daughter Alana Jones, granddaughters Imani (Marcus) Jennings and LeTanya (Jaiquez) Shannon, brother Walter (Sharon) Sims, sister-in-law Geraldine (James - deceased) Hemphill, along with her great-grandchildren Zaiden, Aubrey, LaBria, Marcus Jr. and Charles. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lydia Sims, and brother James Sims.

We encourage everyone to share their memories of Lydia and upload photos to the memorial page. In this way, we will continue to remember and celebrate this remarkable woman. Lydia's light will forever shine brightly in our hearts and lives.
